DIáSPORA
Live recorded in Mexico City, DIáSPORA, eponymus album, is the sound of bodies in motion across space and time. Produced in South, Central and North America, in collaboration with Principa (MX) & Hérnia de Discos (BR), this is a call to gather tribes over the American continent and beyond. To reconcile ancestral and futuristic stories in the liveliness of contemporary languages. Available on all platforms.

DIáSPORA is a nomadic band; sonic witchcraft by Chiquita Magic (voice, synths) & Anaïs Maviel (voice, percussion); a futuristic carnival music that transcends status-quo, cross-pollinates complex realities, inspires lucid dreams.
Ancient and future songs in experimentation and trance, altogether crushing the bounds of static genres and identities. The cross-cultural & intersectional core of the band creates a music shaped by the complex diasporic relations of the American continent - where Indigenous, African, European & Asian cultures formulate unique and ever-changing musical expressions. Influences from folklores, avant-garde and dance culture (hip hop, electronic music, afro-descendant drumming, vocal catharsis) impact compositions that color widely improvised performances with unheard esthetics. |

CHIQUITA MAGIC
“Her choral singing and compositions transcend genre... she is one of the best.“ Ives Bernard, Le Devoir
“Intelligent & emotional in her interpretation. Hats off! “ Frederic Bussieres Poste D’Ecoute
ANAÏS MAVIEL
"What a power and expression! Experimental & abstract of the one hand, but at the same time rooted in old black musical traditions." DM - Vital Weekly
"Her process is so deeply rooted as to be almost subliminal. She seems to throw herself at her notes, as if seeking a sound that might convey pure energetics." Giovanni Russonello, The New York Times
