The 12 Houses is a NYC based large free jazz harmolodic ensemble with a strong political and spiritual component, conducted by Ornette Coleman former student Matt Lavelle (trumpet, alto clarinet, composition) featuring a variable international cast of musicians such as Sweet Lee Odom soprano sax & clarinet, Charles Waters alto sax, clarinet, composition, Art Baron trombone, Ras Moshe tenor & soprano sax, flute, Mary Cherney flutes, Stephanie Griffin viola, Nicole Davis trumpet, Alex Hamburger baritone sax, Anders Nilsson guitar, Jack DeSalvo banjo & guitar, Chris Forbes keys, François Grillot bass, Jeremy Carlstadt, Leonid Galaganov, Tom Cabrera, Reggie Sylvester drums, Gil Sellinger cello & conducting, Brafmatic spoken words and Anaïs Maviel voice. Over a decade of performing and year-long residency at Nublu made the performative occurrences of the band ecstatic.
