RTV sits down with vocalist, percussionist, composer, music director, and community facilitator Anaïs Maviel to discuss her artistic practice and how the Van Lier Fellowship has been integral to presenting her work.
This video features live performance footage from Maviel's two performances at Roulette as part of her year-long Van Lier Fellowship at Roulette. The performance consists of Who is this Ritual for and from? Designed in collaboration with Daria Faïn as a performative ritual establishing a throughline between loneliness and relation, body, time and space, self and tools and machines. The night transitioned into a duo set with pianist Sam Yulsman.
In the second performance of her year-long Van Lier Fellowship, Anaïs Maviel presented Time is Due—a musical drama designed for a multitude of textures performed by a large electro-acoustic ensemble.
