- Alexandre Pierrepont (The Bridge)

Anaïs Maviel is nonetheless an extraordinary vocalist, but also a complete artist. We can adress her these strong compliments to the very extent that her entire path attests to a striking personal inquiry, a « Renaissance Woman »’s. Anaïs Maviel masters and keeps on exploring an impressive array of vocal techniques, which she never detached from the aesthetic, philosophical and/or spiritual approaches that inspired them - that double them. Her creole origins predisposed her to such an intelligence, to such encounters and hybridizations, first with the Paris scene, then with the New York scene – also, to be noticed, as well as an activist alongside musician collectives, as a scholar. Audaciously on all fronts. Moreover, far to be content with her origins to be binding roots forcing a fake ‘authenticity’, but not abandonning them either for the artifical paradises of ‘world’ or ‘pop’ music, she makes a rare aroma bouquet out of them, calling for departure, travel, calling to new adventures. Because, with Anaïs Maviel, the siren song is no longer a spell.
